Taking A Little Time To Regroup

Posted in Career on 6.17.2011 by Uptown Beauty

Life gets hectic sometimes, mines is no exception. I’ve been super busy this last month and sometimes that can fluster a girl like me. I’ve been working extra hard to build a brand for myself .

Keeping up with  my never-ending mission to build my book.

Working in film to keep myself marketable for film and television, as well as to network with other film industry people.  I lucked out to get such an easygoing and talented crew to work with because  there’s nothing like spending 16 hours days with people who make you cringe.

Hiring and firing myself as my own agent… I’m learning as I go, but I quickly lose patience with myself.

As well as keeping up with my part-time job, trying to keep the house clean and my sweetie entertained… and out of the kitchen, keep up with my recipe obsession, loose old baggage to make room for the life I owe myself and have been meaning to make for myself.

In the process, I’ve once again let my blog linger, but am deciding to take the time  and make this a vital part of my agent’s job. There is a lot more to this story, but for now, I paint this picture. I just got a burst of inspiration, some lust for life and excitement for the future!  I want to thank everyone I’ve crossed paths with on this journey.

MUA for hire… the saga continues

I am dying to do more creative beauty work. So, jumping back into the creativity game, you don’t get to pick and choose who and what you work on all the time. Especially if you’re looking for paid work. But for me, the most important thing is that you jump in there and start working. Practice makes perfect and it gonna be a great wedding season!

No place I’d rather be

New York City is a very cramped and crowded place at times. It can also be a very  lonely place . Having the privilege to explore everywhere from downtown to uptown with true friends or a  great companion is a true blessing. Not necessarily a boyfriend, but a comrade you can go any and everywhere with, is one of the greatest joys when it comes to being in Manhattan. I just love being able to drag a good friend up and down the mean streets of  Manhattan.

Have you seen my childhood… crush?

Posted in Entertainment on 4.05.2011 by Uptown Beauty

When I was a young girl, I had  a few fascinations and crushes on fictional T.V. and movie characters.  In 1989 I discovered my “nerd crush” . I loved a man named Sam Beckett. I eventually came to like Scott Bakula as well. Sam Beckett as I knew him then, was the most compassionate scientist I’d ever seen. There was such a humane  nature about him.

Fast forward to Men of a certain age (because we are gonna pretend that Star Trek thing didn’t happen), Terry is nothing like the humane scientist of yesteryear. I realized, as a girl, I never saw him as a sexual object, but more a calming character. Terry, on the other hand exudes sex. Now my thing might be for Scott Bakula and men of a certain age.

The Girl from Ipanema Strikes Again

Posted in Beauty, Fashion on 3.30.2011 by Uptown Beauty

The simplicity of and powerfulness  of this image, has been floating around in my head for days. Yes, there is more to this editorial then just this one picture but beauty makeup and photography always leaves a footprint on my soul. Such exotic glamour. The unapologetic saturation of color we loved in the 80′s.

Arlenis is stunning and Xevi Muntane did such a wonderful job shooting this beauty shot for Harpers Bazaar Spain‘s March edition. It quite possibly could be one of my favorites of recent times. It could be the California girl in me, because the simplicity of the beach, hair and makeup compels me to create my own impossibly glamorous beach looks. There is something so nostalgic yet exotic and new about this story. I think I have officially been pulled out of fashion fatigue.

Napoleon Perdis Tribute to Liz Taylor

Elizabeth Taylor has long been one of my favorite icons / heroes. She always reminded me to unapologetically celebrate being a woman and never forget what power we possess as women. This morning I found some great makeup tips to celebrate her trough makeup. Long live her beautiful spirit! Here is great look to play with today. Napoleon Perdis Tribute to Liz Taylor.
